I dislike publishing back-to-back posts about Cesar Millan, but I don’t control the calendar on this one.
In response to Cesar Millan’s tour in the UK, several animal welfare organizations joined together to create a website about “the possible dangers of using techniques for training dogs that can cause pain and fear.”
They also invited several U.S. organizations to join in the announcement, including the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, (IAABC) of which I am a board member and was able to vote to join in the announcement, and the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), of which I am a certified member.
I really like this campaign because it does more than just criticize one person or set of training methods. It provides some very useful, interesting, and qualified, information about dog training and methods, complete with references.
You can see the press release here, and poke around the site for more information.
