In 2005, Debbie Jacobs volunteered to help dogs that were victims of Hurricane Katrina. She traveled to Louisiana, and while she was there met Sunny, a Border Collie at Camp Katrina.
And in that moment, the lives of many fearful dogs, not just Sunny, improved.
Sunny was (is) an exceptionally fearful dog, and Debbie’s effort to find help for him lead to the creation of the Fearful Dogs website, the Fearful Dogs blog and now the Guide To Living With & Training A Fearful Dog. These are all very valuable resources, and Debbie’s efforts to educate and inform people who live with fearful dogs have been both a success and a blessing.
I spoke to Debbie about Sunny, her book, and her efforts to educate dog owners for the IAABC Podcast. Have a listen.

I greatly admire Debbie for helping those Katrina dogs, and all the other fearful dogs. Thank you!
