Joanne Wannen, at Inspiring Rescue Stories, is holding a contest. People with rescue dogs can put together a brief video about their rescue dog(s), describing how their dog has changed their (or anyone else’s) life. The contest ties in very nicely with her book, which I just ordered.
Here’s my contribution:
Do you have a rescue? Let me know in the comments.
I had two dogs growing up, both were from people who abandoned them. One was a mutt and the other was a miniature poodle. My mom would take in stray dogs. I take in stray cats. I never even get a chance to go to the shelter because cats seem to find me. My last cat, Earl, arrived on my doorstep 12 years ago with a badly broken leg. My vet, who is wonderful, told me to take him to a specialist because it was an odd break. Earl has metal in his leg, which isn't a problem. He would probably set off airport security machines. But he doesn't fly. He is still with us, and no one can tell that he once had a badly broken leg. I would never purchase an animal from a store–puppy mill. There are so many great dogs and cats at shelters in need of good homes. The above video is heartwarming.
Eric, that is a great video!! Rescue dogs are the best, aren't they? We found our Buster abandoned in Philadelphia and he was the inspiration for our website. He changed our whole life!

Cool video, Buddah looks very intense, great attention span. We adopt rescues too. We like to take dogs that have been sitting in shelters or rescues for a while. We have had a few ( Katrina dogs, senior dogs, special needs dogs.) Each and every dog has given us so much in return. Bless you for taking in Buddah. I would have no idea which dogs story to tell. They all have been special.

My dogs have been Rescues since 1995. One has a book out, and (also) a website that has helped dogs the world over regarding her successful recovery (and return to agility), from wobblers, and the 2 current dogs (one is just a pup) are from shelters.

Man I love your videos! This is the second one I've watched of Buddha and I've laughed both times. He looks like an awesome partner!
Reflecting now, I adopted a deaf Dalmatian named Zack (RIP) in 2005. I nicknamed him Buddha.
Good luck in the contest Eric!

Parker is a survivor of distemper and an agility dog and training in K9 Nose Work. Monty is just starting out and having a ball.
